Module 1

In this Module, I explored with various design tools such as Arduino, ProtoPie and TouchDesigner. I also did a lot of research on what I would like to do for future projects using WGSN and other websites.

Activity 1

Arduino first connected.

Connecting wires together.

Turning on a LED light using Arduino.

Adding a button with wires to the previous action.

A demonstration of what can be done using Arduino was shown in class.

Activity 2

Connecting the Arduino board to a sensor board.

Another angle of how the Arduino is connected to the sensor board.

Connecting the whole board to a ProtoPie project that is about weather app.

A demonstration about how a ProtoPie prototype can be used with the Arduino sensor.

Connecting Arduino and MakeyMakey.

Activity 3

Upload code to Arduino using the Arduino software.

Set up TouchDesigner with Arduino.

Controlling TouchDesigner design using the Arduino board.

Changing the colour of the design.

Modify with the shape of the design.

Research Activity

WGSN Consumer Trend Research

I research some trend on WGSN from technology, colour, and emotional experiences. Those are the things I feel that are essential for future physical designs.

Technology and sports design research.

User experience that are emotional and human emotion based.

Report about how different colours should be used and what are the trends for colours.

WGSN Personas Research

I gather some persona researches from WGSN and gained some insights of different personas groups from different perspectives.

This report shares persona in key values of: spontaneity, proactivity, resourcefulness, mindfulness, creativity, familiarity, exploration and belonging.

This report understands their personas by understanding their emotions of witherwill, suspicious optimism, shared vigilance, strategic joy

This persona report is about how users are influences under different fitnesses.

HMI Research

I looked into the websites given in class to learn about how to write HMI questions.

Examples of some good HMW questions.

Some questions I can ask myself when creating HMI questions.

A guide of how to create a HMI question.

Project Path

From my current understanding of the project, I would want to go on with the design path by that involves Arduino or projectors.

This is a sensor switch for a light bulb that turns on when you wave before the sensor.

This is a auto plant watering system that detects the humidity of the soil.

This is a projector project that detects your hand and move along with you.

Project 1 Concept

My current concept of this project is to combine Arduino, sensor and projector together to form either an art piece, or a interactive pointer in a 3D space.
